Congratulations to my hometown of Flint, Michigan. Not only has Michael Moore brought the city international shame fame by way of Roger & Me, but Boss Limbaugh is adding to the city’s increasing popularity.
When the issue of Flint came up on his radio show, Oxy Limb and a caller from nearby Flushing came up with a great idea: bulldoze the city. In Rush’s defense though (imagine me saying that), the idea of tearing down deteriorated portions of the city – as fas as the eye can see in certain areas – was also introduced by City of Flint county treasurer Dan Kildee. Though, I suspect one of the big differences between Kildee and Limbaugh is that Kildee truly does have the city’s interest at heart. Meanwhile Rush is simply trying to take political shots at Democrats, President Obama, and poor people.
All the same, score another one for the good guys. Hooray, Flint! You’re moving up in the world. Pretty soon, you might even be able to catch up with the folks in the D.

“..was also introduced by City of Flint county treasurer Dan Kildee.”
“Also” should be replaced w/ “originally”, as Kildee came out w/ this idea months ago. As much as I detest him, Rush has nothing to do w/ this, & most of the folks commenting the original Flint Urinal article published over @ MLive are unfortunately arguing over irresponsible journalism (urinalism?).
Anyhow, the idea makes sense. W/ some neighborhoods in Flint having a 36.7 percent vacancy rate, why not? These empty structures will never be bought, let alone moved into. Furthermore, they only welcome, & encourage additional crime, @ a time when Flint is down to ~230 total Police Officers. If corporations successfully downsize & restructure in hard economic times, why shouldn’t entire cities w/ declining populations?

If all else fails, the Flint P.D. could always create their own version of “Hamsterdam”. C’mon, it’s a start.
I can think of a few places in my state where Hamsterdams would be welcomed.
Hey Dre,
I would like to bid on the work. My mom lives on the East side and I could spend a month bulldozing a few select areas that need it badly. Just yesterday I sat through a green light watching cops wrestle a man (drug dealer I assume, by the way he fled immediately) to the ground who first tried to flee by jumping his car over parking lot dividers and then (stupidly) reached for his gun. Kudos to the police who showed way more restraint than I would have. Meanwhile, the Pride of the East Side yelled “Leave him alone!” Every third house is vacant in that area and occupied by dope dealers, another third is occupied by users. We could bulldozer two-thirds of Flint, plant crops and feed the remaining third. Rush is an idiot (even though he claims he could take on you lefties with “Half his brain tied behind his back, just to make it fair.” and both arms in a bowl of Oxycotons. However, on this one he may have a point. It’s my hometown and I’ve often thought bulldozing it might make the rats (human and otherwise) easier to eliminate.
HC, for probably the one and only time in my life, I’m actually with Rush on this one. Actually, I was with Kildee first, but with Rush (to some extent) when he essentially reiterated the point.
I think it’s very difficult for citizens to have pride enough in their community to keep it sustained and protected when it’s all jacked up. Moving back to the Flint from the Blanc, I notice that the motivation to damage and deface property decreases when an area looks better. So for a place like Flint, the REAL beautification it can do is to get rid of the garbage that is unhabitable. Maybe at that point, a new level of pride will be injected in the community. It’s worth a shot.
P.S Thanks for the shout.
I don’t claim to know much about Flint. But if it’s as bad as Michael Moore makes it out to be, no amount of government support can help. Rush is a fat, greasy, slimeball no doubt. But if he’s only repeating things that have already been proposed in that city, I guess I can’t blame him.
