I agree thehc. I'm very suprised to see that bill passed. Not only is it ridiculously long (what do you REALLY need 1900 pages for anyway?), but parts of it still put a foot to the throat of the general public. In addition to what you said, I would like to see more on the role individuals play in their own health. Maybe it's the libertarian in me, but I shouldn't have to support people who live on a daily diet of Big Macs and Whoppers.

Well, said but the republicans have to do more than that. The face of the Republican Chairman has changed, yes! but not the GOP.

Hey Dre,
I agree with Josh on this one, although I have to agree with Dr. Who on his point about it being his boss. Larry Johnson is apparently an ass and if his crime is saying something stupid out loud to his boss, then he deserves what he gets. However, if this is just more of the left's attempts to limit free speech, then I'm against it. This idea of a "butterfly effect" of criticizing someone leading to violence and oppression is just an excuse to limit debate so that one side can win uncontested. I don't like what Johnson said either, but tolerance is tolerating things I DON'T agree with.

Hey Dre,
"Nancy Pelosi – though a failure by most standards - showed she can be a pretty smark cookie when it comes to getting things passed."

For God sakes, will you two get a room already. (snicker)

"Harry Reid is not as popular as Nancy Pelosi"

Is that like being the least gay Jonas Brother? Have you seen Pelosi's or Reid's numbers?

Honestly Andre, I don't give this much of a chance of passing. Obama needs to step up to the plate and give a public veto of all the crap that's in this bill and demand that his Dems put politics aside for the good of the country. The Dems should allow the Reps language that flat out outlaws using any public funds for abortions or for coverage to ANY illegal aliens. Obama should stand his ground on the public option and remove any other contentious amendments and then maybe, just maybe, we could swing public opinion enough to force the Senate to vote for it and reconcile the two bills.
