Leroi Moore, saxophonist for the hit quintent the Dave Matthews Band has died from complications stemming from a July ATV accident. He was 46. This is a major loss for one of my favorite bands ever. His style and his musicianship are irreplacable.
Here’s one of my favorites from DMB “Bartender”; including the eccecletic sounds of Leroi’s baritone/tenor saxophones and his penny whistle. This is about as good as it gets:
RIP big guy.
I just received word that five-term Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones (D-OH) has died of a brain hemorrage. She was 58. Tubbs Jones made her mark as the the first black woman to represent Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives. As a member of the House of Representatives and superdelegate, she was most remembered as a Clinton supporter during the recent Democratic primaries, a vehement opponent of the Iraq war, and co-chair of the Democratic National Committee, and a fighter against the voting irregularities in Ohio; which eventually contributed to Bush gaining enough votes for re-election in 2004.
In a Congress full of otherwise useless and inefficient politiicals, Representative Tubb-Jones often provided a model for how to get things done. She will be missed.
RIP Rep. Tubb Jones.
